About Us
Vision
We dream of a thriving and fully functioning church that extends God’s kingdom, not only in the Andover area but also to the very ends of the earth. We dream of living and relating to God, one another and the world as the ancient church did in Acts 2:42-47. So imagine with us the “normal” experience of church where …
- An air of prayer pervades all we do and who we are
- The teaching for children, youth and adults speaks to needs and spur on life change toward Christlikeness through many different voices
- An open web of relationships exists with room for every generation that is more lasting than friendships and more beneficial than partnerships
- We engage the culture and apply the timeless realities of Christ’s teaching in a contemporary manner.
- Everyone exercises their gifts and talents as well as unleashes their resources to seek others’ welfare
- Everyone unleashes goodness for the Andover area and extends the forgiveness available in Jesus Christ to the whole Andover area, one life at a time.
That is our quest, our journey and our challenge in becoming a thriving and fully functioning church in the Andover area.
Values
We value…
COMMUNITY CHARACTERIZED BY LOVE AND SERVANTHOOD
God is love, and so as followers of Christ, we want to be a community characterized by a genuine love for God and others. Our community will seek full devotion to God and seek one another’s best interest where we see, treat, accept and speak to one another as God does to bring healing and vitality to one another. And we will do so not by serving out of convenience but by becoming servants.
(Matthew 22:37-40; John 13:1-7; Romans 15:7; 1 John 4:8)
RELEVANT, BIBLICAL TEACHING
Learning to live like Jesus Christ is our primary faith journey. Since we are primarily learners, biblical teaching supplies an avenue of progress for our faith journey. As such, we center our teaching on the Bible while focusing it on our real, everyday lives.
(2 Timothy 3:14-4:2)
REVERENT AND RELEVANT WORSHIP EXPERIENCES
Life is to be an experience of worship where we bring our whole being and lives to God. We design and pray for our worship gatherings to be extravagantly reverent of God and deeply meaningful to us. So we seek expressive, participative, creative, biblically faithful and culturally relevant worship experiences when we gather as a church.
(Psalm 150; Romans 12:1-2; Colossians 3:16; Hebrews 13:15)
BEING A TRANSFORMATIONAL PRESENCE TO OUR NEIGHBORS AND IN OUR WORLD
God has and continues to transform us so that we are agents of transformation to our neighbors and in our world. So we seek to extend the good news of forgiveness in Christ to our neighbors, friends, family, acquaintances and the world as well as to do good in the Andover area and to the ends of the earth.
(Matthew 5:13-16, 28:18-20; Romans 12:13; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20; 1 Peter 2:9-12)
STRENGTHENING FAMILIES
Families are foundational for spiritual formation in the lives of children, parents, grandparents and other family members, for good or for ill. So as a community of faith, we seek to strengthen families by building faith in Christ into the next generation and supporting, loving and equipping parents and family members to model and teach faith in Christ to the next generation.
(Deuteronomy 6:4-6; Psalm 78:3-4; Ephesians 6:1-4)
Mission
To live by FAITH in Jesus Christ
to be known by our LOVE for God and others
to offer HOPE to our world, one life at a time.
Beliefs
The Bible |
We believe that the Bible is the final authority in all matters pertaining to Christian faith and practice. |
God |
We believe there is only one living and true God - perfect, infinite and eternal. |
Man |
We believe that man was created by God but has alienated himself from God and is in need of reconciliation. |
Jesus Christ |
We believe that God became man in the person of Jesus Christ and that Jesus Christ is both completely divine and completely human. |
Holy Spirit |
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and that He empowers us for life and service. |
Salvation |
We believe that through the gift of Jesus' death on the cross our rebellion can be forgiven, and through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ we can be reconciled to God. |
The Church |
We believe that the Church is universal and that it is manifested locally through companies of Christ followers, meeting together as the "Bride of Christ." |
Ordinances |
We believe that both Baptism and The Lord's Supper are visible signs of the realities of salvation. We are commanded to observe them, but we do not depend on them for salvation. |
Last Things |
We believe that Christ will return at God's appointed time. |
